Description Of Work: Covered our tudor style home with siding, covering all wood to eliminate future maintenance, fish scales on peaks and under bay window, new gutters, paint on the wood around garage door where they were unable to put siding because the door wouldn't have closed properly Member Comments: Rick was extremely pleasant and personable throughout, while still maintaining a professional attitude. He made many wonderful suggestions that we had not thought of but did not press us to move outside our budget. He took pictures and video of our home to illustrate suggestions, areas that needed work, etc. My husband and I have conflicting work schedules but Rick kept us both updated quite well via frequent e-mails. We had no problem getting in touch with him by phone with any questions that came up. The work was started just when promised. Workmen were very good about cleaning up after themselves daily. They even put our deck furniture right back where we had it when they were finished. We were worried that they would just cover up the rotten wood but they replaced any bad wood before covering with siding. They were finished when promised, in fact, they finished a day early because there was rain in the forcast and they wanted to get the gutters up in time. We didn't pay a penny until the job was done to our satisfaction. This was definitely the best experience we have ever had with home repairs. |

project in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Each year, we paint 20

Rick and his team painted the entire exterior
of the house and garage. They covered many areas of the trim
with aluminum, which really looks nice. All corners and
seams were calked with excellent care.

Removed wallpaper, prepped surfaces and painted walls, wood
trim, and ceiling in kitchen, dining room, entry way,
upstairs and downstairs halls, and downstairs powder room.
Member Comments:
Before they started work, Rick discussed colors and quality
of paint with us. The price he quoted was based on labor
time and cost of material (his actual cost with nothing
added on). Removal of the wallpaper was the most difficult
and time consuming aspect. It was 20 years old and in some
places it had to be stripped almost inch by inch. They paid
special attention to the surface preparation, doing it very
carefully and meticulously. Rick's crew were no trouble to
have around, and considering how much of the house was
involved, they went out of their way to avoid
inconveniencing us. They arrived promptly in the morning
and cleaned up each evening before they left. We plan to
use Rick for more painting in the future, and we hope that
Luis and David are available. Rick checked in with them by
phone at least once a day, and visited the site at least 4
times in the two weeks of labor; he may have been there more
often since we felt so comfortable with Luis and David that
we did not stay around all the time. Rick also returned to
the site to check when painting was complete. All in all we
were extremely satisfied.

Description Of Work: Somerset painting painted a stairway, hallway,and bedroom. They also prepped the walls, filling all of the holes, etc. Member Comments:
I contacted Somerset painting about the job
on a Monday. They sent someone to look at the area to be
painted Tuesday morning and started the work at 7:30am on
Wednesday, finishing at noon on Thursday. They were on time,
if not early each day. The cutting was so precise and done
by hand. They gave us the option of 1 coats or 2. The
hallway and rooms look great and we could not have received
better service. The painter was so friendly, and worked hard
all day long. We received a call the first night of painting
asking about our feedback, as well as a call when the job
was complete. I would use Somerset painting again in a
heartbeat.

One room required the removal of wallpaper and there was a fair amount of
plaster repair
as well.

Description Of Work:
Painted the exterior including wood siding,
trim, soffits, garage door. Repaired minor water/mildew
damage to wood around chimney and on part of the siding, and
fixed rust on/under garage door. At no additional cost, they
fixed loose gutters, nails, screws and siding, and caulked
in numerous places where the builder had never even bothered
to caulk. Painted one bathroom (walls and ceiling).
Member Comments:
The owner is very conscientious about doing
the job as you want it done. He goes over all of your
concerns very thorougly prior to beginning. They worked in
the cold and the rain so they could get the job done for me
before the weather became too cold for the paint to "stick".
They did little extras at no cost like powerwashing spilled
paint (from the previous painters) off the porch and
scraping it off windows (also from the previous painters).
They removed a basketball goal from our garage at no cost
and put up our new house numbers for me. Everything looked
perfect when they were done. I swear they must have used a
ruler and a level to put up the house numbers, they are so
even! The bathroom paint had a problem because of some
strange splatter on the wall from the previous owners. When
we realized the sanding and painting didn't remove/cover the
splatter, the owner researched how best to hide the problem
and then came back himself to fix it. It looks fine now. He
also came back to thoroughly inspect the entire job and make
sure I was satisfied. Somerset's prices are comprobable to
other similarly skilled painters who gave me quotes, but I
felt Somerset was more thorough and just felt most
comfortable with their company and employees. They are more
expensive then lesser skilled painters, but I learned the
hard way you get what you pay for. I wish I had hired
Somerset to do the previous interior paint jobs.

Description Of Work: Painting of great room, foyer, halls (ceiling, walls) 5 colors - Benjamin Moore Aura requested by me. Filled holes/chips, nail pops, sanded, perfect mask taping with perfect calking. Paper on floors. Plastic over doors, windows, furniture, railing for protection. Will remove hardware, light fixtures or some only needed loosened. Repaired crack in kitchen ceiling. Member Comments:
Salesman gave informative first impression,
detailed description of what to expect. Salesman listened to
my requests and offered options. Timely quote was emailed
with more explanation of what would be done and a short form
for me to fill-out to make the Painter's more familiar with
the homeowner's. Respected my date desire (which was my
decision to have 3 weeks out from quote). Painter's had
decent arrival time and friendly introductions. Moved
quickly to get the project started. Painter's worked
together very well as a team. Explained what would be
tackled first, second, .... Made perfect lines on the newly
installed chair molding in the halls. They had perfect lines
between ceiling and walls. They protected my furniture and
really everything. They picked up after themselves when
leaving each afternoon. They kept a pretty exact time
schedule. Every afternoon would tell me what time they would
be back the next day. They gave warnings about the possible
slipage on the papered floors when they were down. Paper was
removed in the afternoon and even removed when they went to
lunch. Very considerate. Hardworking. Willing to answer any
questions I may have asked about. Never acted "bothered" if
I asked questions. They just aim to do the job correct and
timely. I'm very, very pleased in the finish product. Would
have them back again (and I know how to paint !! but not as
good as they do) when needed.

Description Of Work: All exterior trim on the brick first floor was painted, including the large front and rear wood porches. The second floor aluminum siding was painted. All shutters and exterior doors were painted. New gutters were installed on the entire house. The first floor facia to which the gutters are attached was covered with aluminum siding (the second floor already had this). Rotted sections of facia boards were replaced in five areas. Member Comments:
I hired this company because I wanted a high
quality job with no short cuts. In the past I had painted
the first floor of the house myself, so I knew what was
involved and the amount of work required. After the first
day, I knew I made the right decision. The workers were very
friendly and worked very deliberately and with obvious
skill, and were concerned about doing a quality job, as
evidenced by the fact the total job took seven consecutive
work days.

Description Of Work: Painted the exterior of the house two colors. Member Comments: Fabulous..first any questionable or rotted wood was replaced. Any cracks in the existing wood was filled with a premium caulk. Any questionable window sills weathered by snow, had a layer of aluminum placed on top and caulked, then painted over which blended into the paint. They used a very high grade paint and masked every aspect of painted application. No drips, extremly neat. Best paint job I have ever had. In years past, it took 2 days to paint our home. With Somerset it took 6. Very meticulus and detailed. I paid double than in the past whereas every 2 - 3 years I had to have a new paint job. This will last at least 6. Cannot be more pleased...thanks Somerset!! |

Description Of Work: Services performed: Aluminum siding repair and exterior painting of exposed wood and aluminum siding. Member Comments: Initial Contact Experience: Rick's callback on my initial contact was within 1 hour of leaving the message. We arranged a meeting the next day, he was able to modify his schedule to meet me at the house and was on time. Inspection and Estimate Experience: Rick and I walked the perimeter of the house as I explained what I thought I needed to be done. Rick acted as a consultant, providing helpful suggestions to achieve the final result described, but was always considerate of the budget I had stated. His suggestions at times increased the estimate, but we worked together to arrive at a set of specifications that resulted in a final price within my budget. I found Rick to be enthusiastic about the work done on my house, which excited me about the possibilities of what the final result would be. His suggestions on color placement and techniques to get the final result were helpful, and aimed at doing the job within my budget. Job Experience: Once the agreement was signed Rick suggested a consultation with the local Sherwin-Williams store. I had a color match done and emailed it to him. He responded that evening alerting me to the fact that the tech at the store provided a mix that was meant for interior, not exterior, and this color would fade within two weeks. He called the store, spoke with the manager and setup a time for me to discuss the color selection with the manager to make sure it was correct. Once the color was selected the job was ready to start. Rick called me to let me know the name and arrival time of the crew member who would be doing the power washing and prep. Once the prep was done, Rick called again to let me know the names and arrival times of the next crew members who would be doing the aluminum siding repair and the painting. There were several days of rain during the job, and Rick would call or email to alert me to the work stoppage, and let me know when the guys would be back on site. This is the kind of project management and communication I expect when I deal with anyone providing a service, and Rick followed-through every time. Also, Rick had his crew do things that added to the value of having him on the job. There were two ham radio antennas on the house that I wanted to retrieve, and Rick's crew took them down for me, without damage to the house or the antennas. Also, I was having large storm windows repaired while the job was ongoing, and his crew took down the second story glass for me to take to the shop. Job Quality Experience: After the job finished I noticed the incredible attention to detail and quality. Masking of areas was precise- no messed up overspray. They even painted the mailbox on my porch! Excellent finish, even around tricky trim areas on my Victorian house. They treated my house like it was their own. Rick Harstell is awesome! We had interior painting done on our great room, Family room, Dining room,

molding installation. The work took approx.4 days . Member Comments: I hired Somerset Painters
because they have been somewhat of a mainstay in our

So I called Rick Hartsell to discuss my house which I am

service. Rick came to my house within the hour. We came to
an agreement on price and the rest is history. His men came

Description Of Work: All we needed to do was call and talk to Rick, and explain the misc. painting jobs we needed in the inside as well as outside of the house. We explained that we needed it done rather quickly since we had some company coming in. No problem! Sent a painter over for a day and took care of mud, repair, paint and clean up of a basement bathroom wall. Also, painted lower part of an outside column that need to be repaired after we had fixed the rotted wood trim piece that was discovered from the previous time when they went to paint it. Caulked in 2 different showers and caulked and sealed outside basement window. Painted the trim outside on one window on the roof that had been repaired. Member Comments:
Painter had been to our house previously, and
again we were very comfortable with him in our house. As
before, he was very polite, courteous, and a hard worker.
Had no issues of us asking him to do something. Explained
what he was doing along the way. He even went to caulk an
additional smaller basement window, but explained that it
needed to be replaced and secured before caulking would be
helpful. Tried to patch another small area outside, but
determined it was too cold by that time for it to properly
be painted, since the temperature had dropped, and it was in
a shaded area. Very good, and very happy that all could be
done quickly with just a phone call. Rick is always helpful
and honest a fair with his pricing, and he makes sure to
check up and see how everything went, and how the workers
were doing.

Some LP sidings on our house needed to be replaced and our
house needed a paint job. I called several companies for
estimates and ideas about needed to be done. Somerset was
